The Humboldt Broncos six-game winning streak came to an end, losing 4-0 at the hands of the division rival Battlefords North Stars on Tuesday night.

The Broncos entered the divisional game 5-1 against the Battlefords in the six games so far this season. Tuesday night was not meant to be as they ran into a former goaltender who was rock solid between the pipes.

Michael Harroch, who spent the entire 2019/20 season with the Broncos, returned from injury and put forth an emphatic performance, turning aside all 39 shots against his former team for his second shutout of the season.

The North Stars came into the game well rested having not played since January 15th due to COVID-19 related postponements. Harroch’s last outing was on January 4th.

Battlefords got goals from Zane Florence (11), Colby Bear (7), Keiton Klein (5) and Holden Doell (EN) (9).

This was the first time this season the Broncos have been shutout, and the first time on home ice since November 29th, 2018.

The loss was the 12th of the season for the Broncos, dropping their record to 34-12-0-0.

They will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, February 5th when they host the Nipawin Hawks.
