It was a blast from the past on Friday night for the Humboldt Broncos

The green and gold unveiled their third jerseys, a throwback to the original 1970/71 inaugural Humboldt Broncos team. The alumni would be proud of the performance on the ice in their retro uniforms as the Broncos picked up their 5th straight win, defeating the Yorkton Terriers 4-1.

The Terries broke the scoring with Steven Norum’s 8th goal of the season, but that was all the offence Yorkton would generate the rest of the way.

Cage Newans tied the game just four minutes later with his 11th. Connor McGrath (22nd) and Alex Morozoff (13th) built up a 3-1 lead in the second frame, and Braiden Koran (20th) added the insurance in the third period en route to the Broncos 33rd win this season.

William Dyke got the start in net for the Broncos, picking up his third win on the season, stopping 28 of 29 shots faced.

The night also marked Broncos’ Trainer, Tyrol ‘SKIP’ Deeg’s 1100th career game as a Junior-A trainer.

The Broncos will be back in action looking to stretch their winning streak to six games when they host the Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday, January 29th
