Matthew Van Blaricom continues to introduce himself.

The second year Bronco and gold medal winner from the World Jr. A Challenge has been listed on the NHL’s Central Scouting List ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Van Blaricom slots in at #150 on the yearly prospects list, ranked third among all players in the CJHL and the only SJHL’er to crack the list.

“Matthew has been incredible. He’s one of the premier players in the country. He’s shown his elite play on the biggest stage at the World Jr. A Challenge, scoring in big games and at crucial times, said Broncos Head Coach and GM, as well as Team Canada West HC, Scott Barney.

Van Blaricom showcased his level of play against the best competition at the Jr. A level in mid December at the World Jr. A Challenge. “MVB” led Team Canada West with 4 goals, culminating by lighting the lamp twice in the Gold Medal Game.

The 2006-born, Van Blaricom is having his coming out party of a season, raking up 39 points in just 25 games. His 22 goals rank 4th in the league, while he’s the youngest player in the Top 20 of scoring and the only 17-year-old in the Top 40.

“What separates Matthew from other Jr. A players are his habits, with and without the puck. He opened a lot of eyes this season and he’ll continue to do so,” Barney added.

The Humboldt Broncos would like to congratulate Matthew on his accomplishment.
