It was a midweek home-stand sweep for the Humboldt Broncos.
Just 24 hours after disposing of the Estevan Bruins, the Broncos picked up their second victory in a row in a 2-1 defeat of the Weyburn Red Wings on Thursday, November 21st.
The Broncos jumped out of the gates as if they were being shot out of a cannon. Consistent pressure in the opening minutes of the game led to two goals just 38 seconds apart, both before the two-minute mark. Isaac Leik scored his third of the season, assisted by Logan Foster to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. Then Braiden Koran threw a puck on net from the blue line that deflected off a Red Wing a fooled Weyburn goalie Joseph Young for a 2-0 lead.
The ice would close up a bit in the second, as the game tightened between both teams, but no goals were scored.
In the third, Weyburn cut the lead in half courtesy of Taylor Schmidt. However, the Broncos, along with Goalie Brendan Forman, who stopped 21 of 22 shot faced, would close the door from there on out, on route to a 2-1 victory.
It was a clean sweep through the two-game home-stand for the Broncos. They will now travel to Wilcox, SK to take on the Notre Dame Hounds in search of three wins in a row on Saturday, November 22nd.
