The Broncos saw their three game winning streak come to an end Friday in Notre Dame. The Hounds took a 3-1 lead in the first period and never looked back cruising to a 5-3 win.

The Hounds’ win closes the gap for second place in the division, Humboldt has 57 points, Notre Dame is one back.

Max Salpeter opened the scoring for the Hounds; Jacob Leicht continues his strong play with his fifth goal of the season. The 18 year-old Humboldt product has three goals and five points in his last four games. Jared Hamm and Ahmed Ally both scored in the first giving Notre Dame a two goal lead.

Captain Logan Schatz drew Humboldt within a goal just before the halfway point of the middle frame. Curtis Wiebe beat Jacob Wassermann twice in the second period giving Notre Dame a 5-2 leading after 40 minutes.

Jaxon Joseph picked up his 24th goal of the year from Schatz in the third period but the Broncos couldn’t get any closer.

Wassermann allowed all five goals on 25 Hounds’ shots, Jack Ryan made 30 stops in the win.

The Broncos will look to respond Saturday night at home versus Estevan at the Elgar Petersen Arena. Face-off is 7:30 p.m.
