The Humbodlt Broncos are back in second place in the SJHL standings after a 6-2 victory over the Kindersley Klippers on Wednesday night.

This was the second straight win for the Broncos and third straight on home ice in 2023.

Matthew Van Blaricom opened the scoring with the rookie picking up his 7th goal of the season. Alec Saretzky then doubled the lead with his 9th goal in his past 10 games, and his team-leading 18th of the season.

Kindersley and Adam Paplawski cut the lead in half late in the first period heading into the intermission with a 2-1 Broncos lead.

The pace of play fell off slightly in the second frame, although Jacob Boucher was able to provide the Broncos a little score-separation with his 14th of the year.

In the third, the Broncos played a smothering game all over the ice.

Ethan Zielke (12) added a shorthanded marker, while Lucas Ceccarelli (8) and Daylan Weigel (7) competed six different goal scorers in the victory. Matt Mazzocchi added the second goal for the Klippers.

Ben Motew turned aside 26 of 28 shots face to improve his record to 11-3-1-0 on the season.

With the win, the Bronco leapfrogged three teams in the logjammed SJHL standings and moved back into second place.

They will have a big test this weekend as the top two teams, the Broncos and the Battlefords North Stars, square off on Friday and Saturday.
