The Broncos capped the regular season falling 5-1 to the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox Tuesday night.

With a first round match-up already set against Melfort head coach Darcy Haugan dressed six affiliate players versus the Hounds. 15-year-old Boston Maxwell dressed for his second straight game, Trey Stocker and Mitchell Girolami also suited up for their second Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League contests. Caleb Cherry, Kade Olsen, and Zach McIntyre were also in the line-up. Veterans Logan Schatz, Conner Lukan, Jaxon Joseph, Bryce Fiske, and first-year defenseman Ryan Straschnitzki didn’t make the trip.

Nick Shumlanski scored the lone Broncos’ goal. His 22nd of the season was unassisted. Jacob Wassermann made 26 stops in the loss.

Jack Flaman led the way for Notre Dame picking up five assists.

Humboldt finishes the season with a record of 33-19-3-3 for 72 points. That’s the Broncos highest total since Dean Brockman guided Humboldt to 76 points in 2012-13. Coincidently Humboldt met Melfort in the post-season that season as well.

Game one is set for the Northern Lights Palace on March 16.
