SGEU MVP OF THE MONTH: Kevin Anderson, Notre Dame Hounds
The linchpin on one of the most successful lines in the SJHL, Kevin Anderson has continued his torrid pace this season. The 2003-born Princeton commit leads all SJHL’ers with 1.57 points per game, scoring 36 points (12g-24a) in just 23 games with the Hounds. In November, Anderson added 10 goals (tied for 1st in Nov.) and 7 assists for 17 points in just 10 games. The line of Anderson, Elliot Dutil, and Connor Nolan has combined for 47% of Notre Dame’s goals this season.
Monthly Stats: (10gp, 10g, 7a, 17pts)
Runner up: Rayce Ramsay, Humboldt Broncos
RBC FORWARD OF THE MONTH: Mark Rumsey, Estevan Bruins
Second straight win for Mark Rumsey in the RBC Forward of the Month category. There seems to be no slowing down the league’s top scorer. Rumsey tied Anderson with 10 goals (most among skaters) and 7 assists throughout the month of November. There’s plenty of mouths to feed in Estevan, but no one is eating up more stats on the scoresheet than Mark Rumsey.
Monthly Stats: (11gp, 10g, 7a, 17pts)
Runner Up: Nolan Doell, La Ronge Ice Wolves / Melfort Mustangs
MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH: Noah Barlage, Humboldt Broncos
The youngest defenseman on the first-place team in the league continues to carve out what has already been a lengthy SJHL career with his hometown Broncos.
The 2003 born, third year veteran has already played 83 games with the green and gold. Factoring in the COVID-19 cancelled year, Barlage should be at well over 100 at just 18-year-old. This past month he shot up the SJHL defensive scoring race with 10 points in 12 games. He now trails only Flin Flon Bombers’ blueliner Xavier Lapointe by three points for the league lead.
Monthly Stats (15gp, 2g-8a-10pts)
Runner Up: Parker Jasper, Yorkton Terriers
SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Michael Harroch, Battlefords North Stars
Michael Harroch has been exactly what the North Stars was hoping he would be when they acquired the former SJHL goalie from British Columbia. The talent was always there when the 20-year-old was playing for the Humboldt Broncos in 2019/20. Unfortunately, he couldn’t shake off the injury bug in his first tenure. It was a picture-perfect month of November for Harroch. An undefeated 7-0-0 record combined with a 2.36 GAA and a .934 SV%.
Monthly Stats: (7GP, 7-0-0-0, 18GA, 255/273, 2.36 GAA, .934 SV%)
Runner up: Boston Bilous, Estevan Bruins
DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: Matthew Perkins, Humboldt Broncos
You can make a strong case that Matthew Perkins is the front runner for all three MVP, Forward, and Rookie of the Month categories in November.
No one in the league had more than Perkins’ 18 points (9g-9a) this month. He’s also doing it three years younger than the 20-year-old vets across the SJHL. In a year with an extended pool of rookies due to the COVID-19 pandemic that include plenty of 19 and 18-year-old’s, Perkins’ production as a 2004-born, 17-year-old will make a seriously strong impression for the Rookie of the Year if it continues.
Monthly Stats: (12gp, 9g-9a-18pts)
Runner up: Jared Thompson, Melville Millionaires.
