Mils upset Broncos at Elgar’s

MATTHIEU GOMERCIC PROVIDED A GOAL AND AN ASSIST WEDNESDAY NIGHT BUT HUMBOLDT STILL FELL 3-2 IN OVERTIME.

 

The Broncos managed to earn a point Wednesday versus Melville but in the process they fell for the fourth straight game.

The Melville Millionaire’s scored twice in the third period and Cory Schillo fired the game winner halfway through extra time to secure a 3-2 victory.

Matthieu Gomercic led the way offensively for the hometown Broncos, the 20 year-old assisted on Logan Hunter’s 10th goal of the year in the second period, Gomercic scored his seventh in the third to force overtime.

Daniel Liberty and Isaac Embry beat Broncos’ starter Jacob Wassermann in the final frame at one point giving Melville a 2-1 lead.

Wassermann stopped 22/25, Colby Entz turned asided 27/29 in the Mils’ net.

The Broncos have slipped to third in their division, they sit two points back of the Battlefords, the Stars visit the Elgar Petersen Arena on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
