McIntyre – $1000 Donation to HCI Breakfast Program

Written by: Rory McGouran

Although Zach McIntyre is now a member of the Melville Millionaires, he continues his off-ice contributions in Humboldt that led him to become the team’s 2019 RBC Community Ambassador.

McIntyre was named the Humboldt Broncos representative of the RBC Community Ambassador Award in November for his extensive work within the community. That good-heartedness continued when he directed the $1000 that RBC provides with the award to the Humboldt Collegiate Breakfast Program.

“Our Breakfast Program costs anywhere from $6000-$8000 per year to run. As you can imagine, $1000 goes a long way in helping us support our kids, so we are very thankful that Zach chose our program as the recipient,” said HCI Principal, Cory Popoff.

The Breakfast Program provides nutritious food to the students at the school to boost learning and is well utilized by a large percentage of the student body.

“We ensure that the quality of food that they receive for breakfast is quite high in terms of nutrition and it definitely helps our students focus and concentrate in a day.”

Cory Popoff and HCI accepted the award on Zach’s behalf at the Humboldt Broncos game on January 7th.

McIntyre was traded to the Melville Millionaires on December 1st, but still found a way to lend a helping hand to Humboldt, something that was routinely evident throughout his time on the green and gold.
