The Humboldt Broncos galloped into the Westland Insurance Arena and tamed the Yorkton Terriers in a 6-3 victory on Wednesday night.

It was a near picture perfect first period for the Broncos. Although giving up the game’s opening goal to Lowie Vreys, one of their very few mistakes of the game, Humboldt outshot Yorkton 19-3 and took a 3-1 lead into the second period. Alec Saretzky (7), Ben Kotylak (10) and Sam Marburg (7) provided the Bronco’s goals.

The Broncos came out strong to start the second period as Jacob Boucher added his 7th and 8th goals of the season, in just his 6th game with the Broncos to build a 5-1 lead. Penalty trouble then occurred as Yorkton closed the gap to 5-3 with two powerplay goals from Lowie Vreys and Logan Cyca.

In the third frame, the Broncos went back to their smothering game, only allowing 9 shots. Lucas Ceccarelli added an insurance marker for his 6th goal of the season and third point on the night.

Ben Motew started in net for the Broncos and stopped 22 of 25 to improve to 5-0-0 on the season.

The Broncos improved their overall record to 12-2-0-0 and have their biggest test of the season coming up this weekend with a home-and-home against the first place Battlefords North Stars.
