2021 – 2022 Humboldt Broncos Schedule

The Broncos are back.

The Humboldt Broncos are set to return to the Elgar Petersen Arena as the SJHL has officially announced the full 58-game schedule for the 2021/22 season.

The puck will drop on the 2021/22 SJHL season starting on September 24th with all 12 teams in action during the opening weekend. However, Broncos’ faithful will have to wait one extra day to see their beloved green and gold in front of the hometown crowd.

Humboldt will kick off the regular season on the road on Friday, September 24th against their natural rival, the Notre Dame Hounds. The Broncos anticipated home opener will then take place the following night when they welcome the Hounds to the EPA in the back half of a home and home set.

Prior to the start of the regular season, the Broncos will look to shape their season-opening roster in six scheduled pre-season games.

Regular Season Breakdown

After attempting to utilize a North/South Division split in the cancelled 2020/21 campaign, the SJHL will return to its more familiar three-division format in 2021/22.

The Top-8 teams regardless of where they finish within their division will advance to the SJHL playoffs.

The divisions are comprised as follows:

Each team will play their natural rival 10 times throughout the season, for the Broncos this being the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Broncos will see the remaining two teams within their division, the Battlefords North Stars, and the Kindersley Klippers eight times each throughout the season.

Finally, the Broncos will faceoff against the remaining eight teams from across the league four times apiece, rounding out the 58-game regular season.

Humboldt will experience a heavy front-loaded campaign, with 37 of the 58 games taking place before the Christmas break, 27 of those scheduled in either October or November.

The regular season will conclude on Sunday, March 6th, 2022.

SJHL Finals and Beyond

SJHL Championship Series – Starting Friday, April 8th, 2022.

ANAVET Cup Series – Starting Friday, April 29th, 2022.

Centennial Cup (National Junior-A Championships in Estevan, SK) – Starting Friday, May 20th, 2022

Other Notable Dates

Christmas Break

The Humboldt Broncos have been granted 16 days off, during which their players will head home to visit family for a much-needed Christmas break.  Humboldt’s final game of the first half of the season takes place on December 18th when they host the Battlefords North Stars. They will return in the new year on January 4th and travel to Melfort to take on the Mustangs.

SJHL Showcase

All 12 SJHL teams will have an opportunity at showcasing their skills in front of fans and scouts alike when the SJHL Showcase returns to the Legends Centre in Warman, SK from October 4th to 6th

The Broncos will play two regular season games (one home, one away) throughout the three-day event. The exact two dates during the Showcase have yet to be determined. However, the Broncos’ opponents will be the Estevan Bruins (Broncos Home) and the Weyburn Red Wings (Broncos Away).

Games will be broadcast live on SaskTel and SaskTel Max TV.

SJHL/MJHL Showcase

After three consecutive years of Saskatchewan hosting the annual all-star event, the SJHL/MJHL Showcase will head across provincial boarders and into Manitoba where the top players representing each league will square off at the Seven Oaks Sportsplex in Winnipeg.

The event which features two veteran teams and one young guns team from each league will take place on January 25th and 26th, 2022.
