The puck will drop on a brand new SJHL Season inside the Elgar Petersen Arena on September 21st as the Humboldt Broncos welcome the Notre Dame Hounds.
This will be the 6th straight season that the two Nutrien Division rivals square off for their season opener.
The 2024/25 Season Schedule will consist of a new, but familiar, format for all 12 SJHL teams.
The regular season will once again comprise of a 56- game schedule, following which the Top-8 teams will advance to the SJHL Playoffs.
Teams will now revert back to playing their division rivals 8 times each.
They will then play all other out-of-division opponents 4 times each.
7:00 HOME GAME TIME!!
The Broncos have announced that the normal scheduled time for home games will remain at 7:00pm after making the switch in the 2023/24 Season.
HOME OPENER
The Broncos will open their season on Saturday, September 21st against the Notre Dame Hounds. The following night the Broncos will travel to the Duncan McNeil Arena in Wilcox, SK for the second half of the home and home set with the Hounds on opening weekend.
The Broncos had a perfect 6-0 record against the Hounds last season.
ROAD TRIPS / HOMESTANDS
The Broncos will have three overnight road trips throughout the season.
- On October 25th and 26th, the Broncos will travel up north for back-to-back games in the Whitney Forum against the Flin Flon Bombers.
- On November 22nd and 23rd the Broncos will finish their northern road trips taking on the La Ronge Ice Wolves on back-to-back nights.
- Finally, The Broncos’ lone southern overnight road trip will be the final games of the calendar year. It will be three games in three nights starting in Weyburn on December 19th and wrapping up with two games in Estevan on the 20th and 21st. (The Broncos second road game against Weyburn will be a stand-alone game on November 29th)
It is a very balanced schedule in terms of stretches on the road or at home for the green and gold.
- The longest stretch of road games consists of 4 in a row in late November (NDH, WEY, LR, LR)
- The longest homestand consists of just 3 games in a row, which takes place in mid October (BAT, LR, WEY) and early January (KK, FF, FF).
- The Broncos’ busiest road month is December with 6 of 8 games on the road.
- The Broncos busiest month at home is February where they play 7 of 11 games at the EPA.
CHRISTMAS BREAK
The Broncos will have a nice holiday break for a well-deserved return home for the players.
The Broncos final game before the break will be at home against the Estevan Bruins on December 21st, before returning to the EPA against Kindersley on January 4th. The holiday break totals 13 days in between games.
FAMILY DAY
- The Broncos will once again host a Free Family Day event on February 17th. However, it will be a new opponent as the Yorkton Terriers come to town.
NEUTRAL SITE GAME
For the first time in a number of years the Broncos will play a neutral site game.
The Broncos’ ROAD game against the Notre Dame Hounds on December 10th will be played at Co-operative Place in Wynyard. SK
PRE-SEASON
The Broncos have scheduled four preseason games to fine-tune the roster prior to the regular season.
A home and home matchup is set with the Kindersley Klippers on September 6th and 7th, followed by another home and home with Melfort the following weekend.
