Humboldt Broncos Trade Gabriel Filion to Drayton Valley for Zach Bansley

The Humboldt Broncos have acquired 19-year-old forward Zach Bansley from the AJHL’s Drayton Valley Thunder in exchange for 20-year-old forward Gabriel Filion.

Bansley, currently has 11 points in 17 games split between the AJHL’s Grande Prairie Storm and Drayton Valley Thunder. Meanwhile, Filion, in his first season as a Bronco, had accumulated 19 points in 25 games.

“I felt the team needed a shake up. Obviously the SJHL is a crazy competitive league this year and we’re currently out of the playoffs and going through a little rough patch. I feel Zach has the tools we need to provide a spark. He’s also has tons of experience and is only 19 years old. Obviously, we wish Gabriel the best in Alberta and can’t wait to get Zach in our lineup,” said Head Coach and GM, Brayden Klimosko.

Bansley, a native of Tisdale, SK, played parts of two seasons with the Melville Millionaires from 2022-24. He also has experience in the WHL and BCHL throughout his career. In total, Bansley has played 90 games of Junior hockey.

In addition to acquiring Bansely, the trade also opens a spot for an additional 20-year-old to the roster.

He was drafted with the 10th overall pick by the Melfort Mustangs in 2020.

The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to thank Gabriel for his time and effort as well as welcome Zach and his family to the organization and community.
