The Humboldt Broncos are happy to announce the signing of 2005 born forward, Brayden Skogstad for the 2023-24 season.
Skogstad, a native of Kelowna, BC comes to the Broncos with a year of BCHL experience already under his belt. Last year, as a 17-year-old, Skogstad suited up for 31 games with the Prince George Spruce Kings where he picked up 3 points as a rookie while being relied upon in a defensive-shutdown role on a deep Spruce Kings’ team.
“We like to build through the middle with true centreman and Brayden is the prototypical two-way centreman that you look for. He has excellent defensive awareness and is very intelligent with or without the puck, which is crucial. We also think his offensive side of the game is only getting tapped into. He’s a 2005 birthyear with already a year of experience in the BCHL on a great program. He knows the right way to play and how to complement high-offensive wing partners. We’re really excited to have him as a Bronco moving forward,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney.
Prior to making the jump to the BCHL, Skogstad pickup up 42 points (14g-28a) in 30 games with the U15 AAA Okanagan Rockets in 2019/20. Then following a year off due to COVID, continued to develop on both sides of the puck with the RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna U18 program, accumulating 22 points (8g-14a) in 27 games as a rookie.
Skogstad stood out in the annual Top-40 Green and Gold game to round out Main Camp for the Broncos this year, where he picked up 4 points in a 8-3 victory for Team Green.
The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to welcome Brayden and his family to the organization and community.
