Humboldt Broncos forward Erik Gardiner was named the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League rookie of the week on Monday.
The 17 year-old hometown product collected a goal and three helpers in four games last week. He scored once and added an assist in a loss to the Battlefords Stars before chipping in with assists in both games up north this weekend.
In 18 contests this season, the former Prince Albert Minto has sniper has 11 goals and eight assists, that leaves him third in the scoring race for first year players.
This is Gardiner’s second weekly award in this category.
