Broncos Win Two Horse Race Over Rival Mustangs

The Broncos picked up their third straight win on Friday night with a 3-2 victory over the Mustangs

The Broncos went into enemy territory and defeated the rival Melfort Mustangs 3-2 on Friday night.

The Broncos didn’t get the greatest jump out of the starting gates, leading to a powerplay goal by Kevin Minnoch and a 1-0 Mustangs lead after one period of play.

It was a completely different story in the second period as the Broncos found their footing and started to make some ground in the two-horse race. Humboldt tallied three goals in the middle frame. Logan Kurki (5) scored to tie the game up at one. In a determined response shift, Melfort’s Curtis Hammond regained their one goal lead, 2-1.

Following that it was all Broncos. Matthew Perkins (2), and Lucas Ceccarelli (8) scored to give the Broncos a 3-2 lead, which they would hold on to for the rest of the game.

Rayce Ramsay stopped 29 of 31 in his league leading 9th victory of the season.

The two horses will meet once again to wrap up the home and home set on Saturday in Humboldt.
