Community invited to see the Stanley Cup and meet Stanley Cup Champion Chandler Stephenson
…Brayden Schenn, Scott Hartnell, Adam Graves and Wade Redden to be in attendance
The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL) are coming to Humboldt to host Humboldt Hockey Day this Friday, August 24 to celebrate the strength and resilience of the Humboldt Broncos community – a community that has worked so hard to support each other following the April 6 tragedy.
Washington Capitals forward and Saskatoon native Chandler Stephenson will be on hand with the Stanley Cup to meet and interact with the Humboldt community members who attend the Humboldt Hockey Day event. Stephenson will be joined by a group of more than 15 current and former NHL players, featuring Brayden Schenn, Scott Hartnell, Adam Graves and Wade Redden.
In addition to the Stanley Cup, there will be a Hockey Hall of Fame display, interactive games, and a Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame exhibit trailer for people to tour. There also will be two pick-up street hockey rinks located in the curling rink where local kids will have the opportunity to play shinny with the NHL players. The Broncos will have Humboldt Strong merchandise for sale, with proceeds going to the Humboldt Strong Community Foundation.
As the Humboldt Broncos prepare to launch into a new season, the NHL and NHLPA, along with the players and member clubs, wish to show their support to the organization, the Humboldt community and the incoming team as they embark on a new hockey season.
