Rematch replicates Friday’s script

The Humboldt Broncos and Nipawin Hawks could feel like extras in the movie Groundhog Day after the two teams home and home weekend series.

Each game ended 3-2 in the Hawks’ favour, both victories were ignited by Bronco minute long breakdowns in second periods.

Friday the Hawks utilized the last minute scoring twice, Saturday the Hawks scored a pair before the four minute mark of the middle frame. Both games were 1-1 after the first period; Conner Lukan scored his 11th of the season at 19:11 Saturday.

Michael Grant and Austin Mikesch beat Parker Tobin 61 seconds apart in the middle frame opening a 3-1 Nipawin lead. Jaxon Joseph scored his 15th goal of the year cutting the lead to 3-2 early in the third period concluding the scoring.

Tobin was busy making 39 stops for the Broncos in the loss, Jake Anthony made 21 saves for Nipawin.

Humboldt is now off until a Dec. 22 date in Melfort.
