Ben Kotylak served just one year with the Broncos but made an immediate impact in his graduating
season.
Kotylak was acquired by the Broncos in the 2022 offseason after splitting the last two campaigns
between the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks (40gp, 12g-8a-20pts) and the BCHL’s Nanaimo Clippers (29gp, 4g-
3a-7pts).
Kotylak showcased his high-end speed and knack for offense in the early going of his first season with
the Green and Gold, posting 6 goals and 10 points in his first 5 games.
“Ben gave us 110% every day. He adjusted to different roles throughout the season and was always a
major contributor no matter where he was in the lineup. He’s going to excel at the next level as he has a
work ethic that is second to none,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney.
Kotylak played all but two games this season, and as the Broncos navigated illness and injuries, he was a
player that could be counted on in any role.
“Even as a 20-year-old, he just wanted to learn and get better all the time. You could slot him on the top
line, and he would contribute. You could also have him as an energy line, and he would be just as
effective there. He was also instrumental on our PK which was first place in the league,” Barney added.
Kotylak finished his Broncos’ season with 40 points (23g-17a) in 54 games played. His 23 goals were
second on the team.
The Humboldt Broncos would like to thank Ben for his outstanding service to the team and the
community both on and off the ice and wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.
Thank you, Ben.
Once a Bronco, Always a Bronco.
