Eight Broncos are being featured during the combined Saskatchewan and Manitoba Junior Hockey League showcase in Regina.

The two leagues have combined to advertise their top 60 “college eligible” players over two days in Regina in front of scouts from across North America. Second year Bronco defenseman Xavier Labelle is among those taking part in the event. Labelle, 18, said getting the call to participate in the showcase is exciting.

“Seeing my name out there is a great opportunity, there’s lots of exposure from tonnes of schools,” Labelle said.  “I think it is a real great event.”

Three games were played today with a mix of both SJHL and MJHL potential scholars, the Saskatchewan representatives are 3-0 after day one. Labelle said he is happy with the SJHL showing on day one.

“Our players did well and I think all our players know this is a great opportunity and there is a lot of players here they can take” Labelle said.

Newest Bronco Nick Shumlanski scored in his game today, no other Broncos hit the scoresheet. Action resumes again Tuesday with three more games.
