Humboldt Broncos Announce 2023/24 Schedule

The Humboldt Broncos will be back inside the Elgar Pertersen Arena on September 23rd as they’ll welcome in the Notre Dame Hounds when the puck drops on the 2023/24 SJHL season.

There 2023/24 Season Schedule will consist of the same format the SJHL pivoted to in 2022/23, featuring 56 regular season games.

  • Teams will play their division rivals 6 times each.
  • Teams will play two opponents outside of their division 6 times each.
  • Teams will play the remaining 6 teams outside of their division 4 times each.
  • The remaining two games will take place at the SJHL Showcase in late September, where teams must play an opponent outside of their division, that they are only scheduled to face four times.

Season Tickets for the Humboldt Broncos 2023/24 SJHL Season are currently on sale. Fan can save $50 if they purchase their tickets before June 30th.

The Broncos agreed to join most of the league with moving the time of the Home games to 7:00pm for the 2023/24 season.

HOME OPENER

The Broncos will open their season on Saturday, September 23rd as they welcome the Notre Dame Hounds to the Elgar Petersen Arena for the first game of the season. This will be the 5th straight season the Broncos will open up the schedule against the Hounds. Last year the Broncos had a 4-2 record against the Hounds.

The following night the Broncos will travel to the Duncan McNeil Arena in Wilcox, SK for the second half of the home and home set with the Hounds on opening weekend.

SJHL SHOWCASE

Once again, the annual SJHL Showcase will return to the Legends Centre in Warman, SK as players step into the spotlight in front of scouts and fans alike across the hockey landscape.

Following the SJHL AGM, the teams and league agreed to move the showcase from late September to mid-November.

Each team will play one scheduled HOME game and one ROAD game at the Showcase.

The Humboldt Broncos are scheduled to face the La Ronge Ice wolves on November 15th and the Melville Millionaires on November 16th.

ROAD TRIPS / HOMESTANDS

  • The Broncos will have three overnight road trips throughout the season.

From November 17-18 the Broncos will travel up north for back-to-back games against the Flin Flon Bombers.

From November 30th – December 2nd the Broncos will finish their northern road games with three games in three days, taking on La Ronge on back-to-back nights then ending the swing in Flin Flon on the 2nd.

From January 25th -27th the Broncos will have their final overnight road trip with three games in three days down south. They’ll take on the Weyburn Red Wings on Thursday night, before their only two games at Affinity Place against the Estevan Bruins on Friday and Saturday. (The Broncos second road game against Weyburn will be a stand-alone game on November 21st)

  • The Broncos longest stretch of games away from the Elgar Petersen Arena will last 21 days in November. Their final home game is November 4th, before returning on November 25th. This stretch does include the SJHL Showcase in Warman where each team plays one home and one road game on their schedule.
  • The Broncos’ busiest road months are November and January where they play 8 out of 11 games on the road.
  • The Broncos longest homestand last 19 days and consists of 5 straight home games from February 17th – March 6th, 2024.
  • The Broncos busiest month at home is October where they play 7 out of 11 games at the EPA.

CHRISTMAS BREAK

The Broncos will have a nice holiday break to rest, reset, and recover from the first half of the regular season as the players head home for a well-deserved holiday hiatus with their families.

The Broncos final game before the break will be at home against the Notre Dame Hounds on December 16th, before returning to the ice in Yorkton on January 5th. The holiday break totals 20 days in between games.

FAMILY DAY

The Broncos will once again host the Kindersley Klippers on Family Day for a 3:00pm start on Monday, February 19th. Last Season the Broncos opened the door for free to all fans thanks to generous sponsors. The same plan remains intact in 2024.

PRE-SEASON

The Broncos have scheduled five preseason games to fine-tune the roster and prepare for the 2022/23 regular season.

The first action of the preseason is a home and home set with the Kindersley Klippers, at home on September 8th and on the road on the 9th.

The three remaining games are against the Battlefords North Stars, at home on September 12th, and another home and home set vs the Melfort Mustangs, at home on the 15th and on the road on the 16th.
