Hounds humble Humboldt

The Humboldt Broncos dropped a crucial inter-divisional match-up Friday at Notre Dame falling 5-2.

Trying the chase down the Hounds for second place in their division, the Broncos took a 1-0 lead after one period. Kaleb Dahlgren scored his seventh goal of the year and third of the season against his former team.

Notre Dame responded in the second period scoring twice taking a 2-1 lead to the final intermission.

Humboldt’s Jaxon Joseph picked up his 18th goal of the year tying the contest 2-2 near the middle point of the third period.

The Broncos couldn’t generate any more offense on the road. Tim Gould scored his second of the game which was the game winner, Chance Longjohn made the score 4-2 and Curtis Wiebe scored into an empty net capping the scoring.

Parker Tobin stopped 27 shots in the loss, Jacob Standen stopped 18/20 Bronco chances in the victory.

Humboldt sits three points behind the Hounds in the division race; Notre Dame has a pair of games in hand. The clubs meet again in Humboldt Saturday at 7:30 p.m. closing a home-and-home weekend series.
