The Humboldt Broncos got the party started Friday night getting the teddy bear toss goal out of the way early but the celebration was short lived.
Derek Patter beat Jake Anthony at the 6:37 mark for his ninth of the season sending teddy bears onto the ice from the fans. The stuffed animals will be distributed to the Humboldt District Hospital.
The lead was short-lived, Jake Tremblay tied it at 1-1 just before the ten minute mark. Brett Harasymuk and Michael Grant scored in the final minute of the second, Grant’s goal coming with ust 1.4 seconds left on the clock.
The Broncos fought back in the third, Evan Thomas scored five minutes in making it 3-2 but the green and gold’s comeback attempt fell short.
Jacob Wassermann made 29 stops in the loss, Anthony turned aside 18/20 in the Nipawin net.
The teams meet again Saturday in Nipawin, face-off is 7:30 p.m.
