The Humboldt Broncos are proud to announce another commitment for one of our graduating players.
The longest tenured Humboldt Bronco has announced where he will continue his hockey and academic career.
Five-year Bronco’ veteran Chase Lacombe has announced his commitment to Nipissing University (USPORTS) and will become a member of the Lakers for the 2023/24 season.
Lacombe joined the Broncos as a 16-year-old rookie in the 2018/19 season, where he played 41 games adding 3 assists and 104 penalty minutes while announcing himself as a promising defensive force on the blueline for years to come.
Throughout the next three seasons, Lacombe would make the jump up to the WHL.
From 2019-22, he would dress for 112 regular season and playoff games combined, between the Swift Current Broncos and the Seattle Thunderbirds. Even though Lacombe spent the majority of that stretch in Major Junior, he managed to suit up for 21 games in Humboldt, playing at least one game in 5 straight seasons.
“We are very excited for Chase to get this opportunity with Nipissing. They are not only getting a great player, but a top-of-the-line character human being off the ice as well. His leadership and commitment along with his play is why he had such a long and successful career with 250 games of junior hockey,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney.
Over the course of his Humbodlt Broncos’ career, the Moose Jaw, SK native accumulated 138 games while adding 22 points (2g-20a) and 289 penalty minutes.
“He’s one of the hardest players to play against that I have seen in my time in Jr. A. We are very happy for him to take this next step in his athletic and academic career at Nipissing and we wish him nothing but the best,” Barney added.
Lacombe will look to help the Nipissing University Men’s Hockey Program bounce back from a down season after finishing with a 4-17-5 record in the OUA East Conference in 2022/23.
The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to congratulate Chase and his family on the commitment to Nipissing University.
