Assistant Coach Carter Hansen will remain behind the bench for the Broncos
The Humboldt Broncos are proud to announce that Carter Hansen has agreed to a 3-year contract extension to remain with the club through the 2027-28 season and has been promoted to Associate Coach.
“The Humboldt Broncos Board of Directors, alongside GM Brayden Klimosko, are very happy to extend Carter. Carter has grown so much since joining the Broncos as a coach and his passion and dedication towards the team and the community is overwhelming positive and very clear,” said Broncos President, Amanda Schlachter.
Hansen started his Broncos coaching career, accepting the role midway through the 2021-22 season. He has since helped guide the team to a 120-54-6-4 record and three straight playoff appearances including back-to-back SJHL semi-finals. The Broncos are also one point away from clinching their fourth straight playoff appearance with Carter as the assistant coach.
“I’ve had some really strong assistant coaches in the past and Carter is as good as any. He has elite level video skills set and is able to get the most out of his players, they really respect him. He’s going to have a ton of opportunities in the future with his coaching career, and I’m really looking forward to working with him for another three years,” said Head Coach and GM, Brayden Klimosko.
Hansen amassed a wealth of experience in his playing career that spanned through the WHL, SJHL and finally at the University of Regina. He logged 251 games in the WHL, 49 games in the SJHL winning a championship in 2016 with the Melfort Mustangs, and finally 52 games with the U of R.
Hansen and his wife Bobbi-Jo have made Humboldt their home and also welcomed their first child together in January of last year.
“I am so happy and excited to be staying in Humboldt. My wife and I started our family here with our daughter Ellie, and we want to continue to grow as a family here in a wonderful community. The Broncos organization is one best in the country and one of the best at getting players onto the next level. It will give me the chance to work, to improve and to move myself on as well in the future and I’m extremely grateful for that opportunity,” said Carter Hansen.
The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt are proud to have Carter and his family remaining as a part of the organization and community.
