The Broncos will send the second most players in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL)  to the newly formed showcase.

60 of the top players from both the SJHL and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) will square off in Regina at the Co-operator’s Centre in front of scouts and recruiters from across North America.

Logan Schatz, Xavier Labelle, Bryce Fiske, Brayden Camrud, Conner Lukan, Logan Hunter, Ryan Straschnitzki, and newly acquired forward Nick Shumlanski are among the three teams. Schatz said the group is excited about the opportunity.

“It’s a great opportunity for all of us, this gives us a chance to get more exposure from schools, and see how we compare to the best players in our respective leagues,” Schatz said.

The rosters were selected by the SJHL coaches according the league’s website. Broncos head coach Darcy Haugan said he’s also excited for the player’s chances to be noticed.

“This is a huge honour for all the players participating. Since you couldn’t vote for your own players, it is has to be even more rewarding for the players participating,” he said.

Games get underway at 12 p.m. on Jan. 15 and conclude at 5 p.m. on the 16th. The schedule consists of three games each day. Haugan said the first of its kind event is exciting for all involved.

The Broncos as an organization are extremely grateful for all the hard work that was done by everyone involved making this event possible,” he said.
