Broncos Commit to 2006 Born Defenseman Carsten Kayter

The Humboldt Broncos are adding some dynamic young talent to their blueline for the 2022/23 SJHL season.

The Broncos announced that 2006 born defenseman Carsten Kayter has committed to the green and gold and will don the Broncos’ sweater the season.

Kayter, a 4th round draft pick (47ov) of the Broncos in the recent 2022 SJHL Draft, was a member of the U18 AAA Warman Wildcats this past year, where he put up 25 points (1g, 24a) in 43 games during his rookie season.

“The Broncos are very excited to be able to recruit and commit to a player of Carsten’s talent,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney. “He’s a 15-year-old with tons of skill and we’re really looking forward to continuing to develop his game and working with him on a daily basis this season. Our fans are going to be excited to see such a young talented player along the blueline.”

Kayter, most likely would have been an early first round draft pick in the SJHL Draft. However, his status with where he would play in the future was unpredictable based off being drafted in both the WHL and the USHL. Kayter was a 4th round pick (77ov) by the WHL’s Victoria Royals in 2021 and followed that up being selected in the second round (28ov) by the USHL’s Omaha Lancers in the 2022 Futures Draft.

The Warman, SK native will join the Broncos in late August as they commence their fall training camp.

The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to welcome Carsten and his family to the Broncos and the community.
