Broncos Acquire Forward Maddox Amaral from GOJHL

The Humboldt Broncos are pleased to announce the acquisition of 2004-born forward Maddox Amaral of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (GOJHL) St. Thomas Stars in exchange for future considerations.

Amaral, a Komoka, Ontario native, put up 29 points (15g, 14a) in 42 games with the Stars last season, his first full season of Junior Hockey. Due to COVID-19, Amaral lost a year of hockey with the GOJHL being postponed in 2020/21. Prior to making the jump to junior, Amaral was the assistant captain with the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs U16 program, collecting 39 points (19g, 20a) in 33 games.

“Maddox has come highly recommended and touted from many smart hockey minds in Ontario. He’s young and brings passion, intensity, skill and plays with a high-level motor every shift for 60 minutes. He will immediately be a player the fans will respect and enjoy watching,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney.

Amaral was a draft pick of the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s in 2020 and was named to the GOJHL’s Top Prospects team in 2022.

The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to welcome Maddox to the Broncos and the community.
