Role
The Assistant Coach is partly responsible for the daily operation of player/team development and attached to the successful operation of the Humboldt Broncos Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club.
Reporting to the GM/Head Coach and to the Board of Directors, the Assistant Coach will require positive interactions with the GM/Head Coach, players, customers, sponsors and the general public.
Primary Responsibilities but not limited to
Coaching:
- In the absence of GM/Head Coach, assume all responsibilities of said position as required
- Support GM/Head Coach with plans for all practices
- Fill role with pre-game strategies, team talks and individual meetings
- Assist GM/Head Coach in game preparation
- Assist GM/Head Coach in all game video analysis
- Support development of team building plans
- Communicate with GM/Head Coach and players as assigned on a daily basis
- Review both player and team performance with GM/Head Coach as required
- Support GM/Head Coach with in-game and on-bench activities
- Provide instruction and feedback for players on the bench
- Support GM/Head Coach in controlling dressing room during all practices and games to ensure player performance and accountability
- Supervise players in City facilities
- Attend all team meetings, conference calls, league meetings and fulfill roles as assigned by GM/Head Coach
- Attend and represent the team at functions throughout the community
- Coordinate all road trips, including busing, hotels and meals
- Assist GM/Head Coach in scheduling daily activities for the team
- Assist the GM/Head Coach in recruitment and scouting of potential players
- Assist GM/Head Coach in all aspects of player transactions
- Organize the Spring and Fall camps, which will include, mail-outs, organizing times, dressing rooms and the arranging of teams
- Plan and implement aspects of the Broncos Summer Hockey School
- Identify and assist players’ education requirements, including arranging for SAT testing and requirements of other schools
