A pretty bow tied atop a five-game winning streak to wrap up 2021 for the Humboldt Broncos.

The green and gold gave one last holiday gift to the fans in the Elgar Petersen Arena, defeating the Battlefords North Stars 7-1 to cap off 2021.

They decked the halls and filled the net all night long.

Alex Morozoff got the Christmas party started, scoring his first of three goals on the night and 7th of the season. Cage Newans doubled the lead just two minutes later with his 8th, and the horsemen took a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The gifts kept coming in the middle frame. Ethan Zielke (5), Braiden Koran (16), and Morozoff (8) built a quick 5-0 lead in the front half of the period. Battlefords scored their lone goal of the game curtesy of Holden Doell’s 7th. However, Morozoff completed his hattrick and Connor McGrath tucked home his 19th and the Broncos held on to the 7-1 lead the rest of the way. For McGrath, it continues his current league-best 10-game points streak. The 2003-born rookie now has points in 22 of his last 23 games and leads the SJHL with 54 points (19g,35a)

Rayce Ramsay has been picking up wins faster that Santa washes down his cookies with milk. The nation-wide leader has 25 wins on the season. To put that in perspective, during the last full SJHL season in 2019/20, the league-leader in wins at the end of the year had 25. Ramsay has that mark at the Holiday break.

The Broncos improve their record to 27-8-0-0 and are the first-place team in the SJHL heading into the new year. They will return to the ice on January 4th in a road game against the Melville Millionaires.
