BHP Recap: Broncos drop sixth straight in another one-goal heartbreaker to Bruins

The struggles continued for the Humboldt Broncos on Friday as they were defeated by the Estevan Bruins 5-4.

With the loss, the Broncos dropped their sixth straight game, all of them decided by one goal.

Estevan jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first period. Nathaniel Harvey scored the opening goal with a deflection.

Cash Olson extended the Bruins taking advantage of a Broncos turnover inside of their own end.

In the second period, Estevan moved ahead 3-0, once again capitalizing on a Humboldt turnover inside of their end as Colton Getzlaff picked up the goal.

The Broncos rallied back, as Oliver Phillips scored on the power play to move the green and gold within one heading into the final period.

Levy Kozma knocked in a loose rebound to cut the deficit within one.

Humboldt tied the game as Phillips scored his second goal of the game.

But it was a short-lived tie, as a minute later Olson scored his second goal of the game, giving the Bruins the lead.

Ewan Rennie added an empty netter to provide the Bruins some insurance.

With four second left in the game, Phillips completed the hat trick, but time ran out of the Broncos.

Charlie Tritt made 28 saves for the Broncos.

Humboldt’s power play was 1 for 2 while Estevan was 0 for 4.
