BHP Recap: Back-to-back heartbreak: Broncos outpaced by another Bombers comeback

For the first time since October 10, the Humboldt Broncos suffered a loss in regulation as the Flin Flon Bombers defeated the Broncos 3-2 on Saturday.

The Broncos were unable to hold a lead for the second straight night.

Logan Flint opened the scoring for the Broncos in the first period, collecting a goal in his second game back after missing a month’s worth of action with a knee injury.

Connor Miller added to the lead, knocking in a loose rebound as the Broncos led by a pair after the first period.

Flin Flon responded in the second period, with Nathan Lalumiere knocking in a loose rebound of his own, as Humboldt’s advantage was trimmed to one goal heading into the final period.

In a span of 2:06, the Bombers were able to tie the game and take the lead. Daniel Morozov scored his first goal as a Bomber, with a high rising shot that beat the Broncos Charlie Tritt.

With a late power play, Flin Flon was able to move ahead, with Maverick Deslisle scoring on the extra man advantage.

Humboldt was unable to find an equalizer, as the Bombers swept the weekend set. Following the final whistle, as the Bombers stormed the ice to celebrate their win, a number of fights developed, leaving a taste of bad blood on the ice.

Tritt ended up making 43 saves.

The Broncos were 0 for 2 on the power play, while the Bombers were 1 for 4.

With the season series wrapped up between the two teams, each squad earned five points against each other in the season’s head-to-head matchup.

Humboldt’s eight-game point streak was snapped with the loss.

Next action for the Broncos will be a divisional matchup on Tuesday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena against the Kindersley Klippers.
