Giving up 4 goals on the opening 7 shots is not the recipe te Broncos wanted to be trying out against the league’s best. Although the effort was there, the hole was too deep and the Broncos fell to the North Stars 7-4.
The Broncos hosted the Battlefords on Tuesday, December 17th for their second last game before the holiday break.
In the first period, The Northstars scored twice on their first two shots to take a 2-0 lead in the first 1:20. Justin Jamer scored his 7th of the year to cut the lead in half, but two more North Stars goals to bookend the period had the BRocnos ina 4-1 hole heading into the second. Dawson Cochrane replaced starting goalie’ Brendan Forman following the fourth goal.
In the second period, Ben Hiltz scored his first as a Northstar since being traded form the Weyburn Red Wings on December 1st to increase the lead to 5-1. Jackson Bohan scored the Broncos second powerplay goal to make it 5-2 heading into the third period.
In the final frame, 2 more Battlefords goals made it 7-2. The Broncos didn’t quit on themselves and added two late markers by Logan Foster and Doug Scott to make it 7-4 but the damage had already been done, and the North Stars skated away with a 7-4 victory.
The Broncos will seek revenge in their final game before the holiday break to wrap up a home and home set on Wednesday, December 18th in the Battlefords.
