It was a strong week for a pair of Humboldt Broncos.

The Broncos took home two player of the week awards for the week of January 20th -26th where the team went 1-1-1-0.

Michael Harroch has been named the SJHL’s Goaltender of the Week and Logan Kurki has been announced as the Rookie of the Week.

Harroch has unfortunately seen his rookie season littered with injuries and illness, but he bounced back in a big way, proving that the talent has always been there. Harroch made 32 saves in an overtime loss to the Estevan Bruins on Saturday, January 25th, before stopping 32 of 33 in a 4-1 win over the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday. The win was the first for Harroch since September 27th and was his first start in net since December 6th. Through the two appearances, he finished with a .928 save percentage.

Logan Kurki, the league’s Rookie of the Week, picked up 4 goals and 1 assist in 3 games played. Kurki scored in every game throughout the Broncos’ weekend road trip. He scored two goals on Friday in a loss to the Weyburn Red Wings, before scoring one in both Estevan and Notre Dame on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Kurki now has 7 points over his last 5 games and sits in 5th in league rookie scoring with 29 points (14g, 15a) in 33 games played. This was the second time this season that Kurki was named the Rookie of the Week.

Both Broncos will be part of the starting roster on Tuesday, January 28th when they look to continue their success against the Kindersley Klippers.
