The Humboldt Broncos are happy to announce that Ty McKay (05) has committed to playing for the Broncos for the 2023/24 SJHL season.
McKay, a 5’10 centreman from Calgary, AB, is currently playing for the IHA U18 Prep Hockey Program where he’s collected 19 points (10g, 9a) in 23 games so far this season.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Ty and his family to the Broncos’ organization next season. He is a natural centreman who is super strong in the position on both sides of the puck,” said Head Coach and GM Scott Barney.
McKay, prior to advancing to U18 prep, was dominating U15 hockey in Calgary. In his rookie season, before the COVID 19 pandemic, McKay produced 56 points (26g, 30a) in just 30 games played for the NWCAA Stamps.
“Ty is a player that our scouting staff had had identified for a long time. We’re looking forward to him filling a much-needed hole in our lineup next season. His character, skill, and willingness to work hard to get to the next level is what’s going to make him a great Bronco,” said Barney.
The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to welcome Ty and his family to the organization and community.
